Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are used to enhance volume throughout the face, hands, or body and can be used to plump the lips and cheeks or fill in wrinkles.

If you’re looking for a nonsurgical way to achieve a youthful or enhanced look, fillers are a phenomenal option. Dermal fillers are a type of cosmetic injection that uses a special formula (a synthetic version of the hyaluronic acid within our own skin) to fill in areas of the face or body.

Fillers can be used to smooth out dynamic wrinkles on the forehead, around the eyes, or near the laugh lines. They can also be used to add plumpness to the lips and cheeks, as well as the hands.

Our team at Gard Wellness Solutions has a thorough understanding of cosmetic injections and will develop a personalized treatment plan that achieves your goals using effective nonsurgical techniques.

Am i a candidate for dermal fillers?

The best candidates for dermal fillers are those seeking to enhance their features (lips and cheeks) or decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles without having a surgical facelift.

Often, those with significant signs of aging or who have recently lost a significant amount of weight have spots on their face that are sunken in or uneven.

These attributes make them great candidates for injectable fillers. They are also a great option for men and women who do not want to risk the costs, recovery time and scarring that can occur following a surgical facelift.

How do dermal fillers work?

Before your injection procedure, our team in West Palm Beach, FL will meet with you to learn more about your cosmetic goals and decide which product will best achieve them.

To begin the actual procedure, Bryan will administer numbing cream as a local anesthetic to make the injections as pain-free as possible. We will decide the amount of filler that is needed and will slowly and gradually inject it via a small needle.

Keeping the desired result in mind, either a portion or an entire syringe could be used during the procedure.

How long do dermal fillers last?

Depending on the type of formula used, some fillers can last up to a year with most lasting between 3 – 6 months. In many cases, brands of dermal fillers come out with many different formula types to suit different areas of the body.

For example, a filler needed to smooth out forehead wrinkles doesn’t need to be as thick or durable as a filler intended to add volume to the cheeks.

Your injector at Gard Wellness Solutions will discuss how long you can expect your results to last and schedule follow-up appointments to accommodate.

Dermal Fillers FAQ

Are dermal fillers safe?

Yes, dermal fillers are generally considered to be very safe, especially when done by experienced aesthetic professionals like our team at Gard Wellness Solutions. A 2019 study found hyaluronic acid fillers to be an effective and safe treatment.

While some patients may experience mild discomfort during the injection, most don’t find it painful. The needles used for the injections are very small and fine grade — much smaller than the needles used for a flu shot. After the fillers are injected some patients may experience mild swelling, redness, bruising, or soreness at the injection sites, but this usually goes away within a few hours to a couple of days.

The results for each person are unique, but most people can expect to need a maintenance dermal filler injection about every 6 — 9 months.

Depending on the type of dermal filler, they typically include one or a combination of:

  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Calcium hydroxylapatite
  • Polyalkylimide
  • Polylactic acid
  • PMMA (Polymethyl-methacrylate microspheres)
